Originally opened in 1865 and the pinnacle of Victorian style, the Langham played a key role in London society of the time---Oscar Wilde, Toscanini and Mark Twain were once guests. To this day, it continues to draw an intriguing crowd of celebrities. Totally reconstructed after decades as the headquarters of the BBC, it is impressive, with marble floors and pillars in public areas, a particularly grand entrance hall, a peach-toned décor and American red oak furniture and fittings in guest rooms. The health club is spectacular with sauna, state-of-the-art gym, steam room, solarium, and all kinds of treatments. There's also a hair and beauty salon, shop and theatre desk.
